TROY, Michigan – International Strategic Management expands its reach to Tennessee in collaboration University of Memphis and Shelby County Schools, offering youth a virtual global trade mission in STEM.
As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, chief information security officers have shifted priorities to encouraging entrepreneurs to think more intentionally about Cybersecurity. Thus, ISM collaborated with the Hamilton High School STEM and IT NAF Academies for 2020 Global Trade Mission to pilot the first virtual Cybersecurity Pitch Competition, which took place online November 18-20, during GEW.
"This is the future workforce," says Faris Alami, CEO of International Strategic Management and GTM Director. "Global Trade Mission provides students an opportunity to learn about issues in global trade, cultural diversity, entrepreneurship, and business, along with the latest technology. At GTM, we are developing the next generation of leaders and talent."
Over the years, ISM has engaged 5,000 high school students in Global Trade Mission, which began in 2005. Using STEM as the lens, the Global Trade mission is an intensive, three-day, hands-on learning experience that simulates the entrepreneurial and business international trade mission. Through this extraordinary opportunity, students learn about topics in global trade, cultural diversity, entrepreneurship and business and technology tools.
This historic event would not have been possible without the leadership of these organizations collaborating across states.
"In today’s digitally connected global knowledge-driven society, Cybersecurity is everyone’s business,” says Terrance Campbell, CCTE Cybersecurity Teacher at Shelby County Schools and Cybersecurity/Health Informatics Program Consultant at the University of Memphis. “THANK YOU International Strategic Management Inc. for this is an AWESOME opportunity to help students develop a better understanding of the technical AND non-technical role Cybersecurity plays in entrepreneurship.”
Launched in 2008 by the Kauffman Foundation, Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is held annually in November in 170+ nations with 20,000+ partner organizations. One of them is Troy, Michigan-based International Strategic Management Inc.
