On Jan 4, 2022, Education for Employment-Palestine launched the "Palestinian Women Entrepreneurs" program to enhance the capabilities of Palestinian female entrepreneurs. The program will support the development of small and medium enterprises, enabling women entrepreneurs to successfully overcome challenges and obstacles. This training, conducted through a partnership with Education for Employment - Global, and International Strategic Management, targets more than forty female entrepreneurs from Palestine (West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip).

Due to the widespread impact of COVID-19, Education for Employment-Palestine intensified its efforts through a series of hybrid training and counseling programs by delivering online and face-to-face sessions to support entrepreneurs and the continuity of their businesses.

The training program starts with a seventy-hour intensive, implemented over twelve sessions. In this regard, the CEO of Education for Employment - Palestine — Dr. Saro Nakashian — said that the aim of these training sessions is to develop the skills of female entrepreneurs in operations, finance, and marketing. Thus, this will prepare them for the next stage, which will further develop their skills and competencies to compete at the regional and international levels. The entrepreneurs will compete throughout the program until the final five female entrepreneurs are selected for the final stage — a mission to the United States.

The first part of the training focuses on several skills in which the entrepreneurs showed interest. Skills include marketing, digital marketing, financial analysis and operations, as well as the obstacles that many companies face today, most notably how to overcome the consequences of the pandemic.

After completing the first phase, a select group will move to phase two, led by International Strategic Management (ISM), headquartered in metro Detroit, Michigan. The entrepreneurs will learn about the global market, and how to enter and compete as emerging companies at the global level.

Five participants will then be advanced to stage three and travel to the United States of America to join the capacity-building program to get to know the global market first-hand, in addition to meeting business support specialists and potential future clients. Participants in this capacity-building program will visit Detroit, Michigan to engage with experts, potential clients, and ISM staff as they consider how to best expand their businesses. They will then travel to Washington, D.C. to work with staff from EFE – Global to explore international markets and potential business growth in the area.

“This collaboration will not only benefit program participants in growing their businesses,” says ISM Founder/CEO, Mr. Faris Alami, “it will also foster positive Palestinian-American cooperation in expanding business activities. We are honored to be involved and look forward to helping these women achieve their goals.”

It is worth noting that this cooperation and partnership with International Strategic Management Company is not the first of its kind with EFE, and certainly will not be the last. The organization seeks to launch other programs together targeting Palestinian youth.

Dr. Nakashian added that Education for Employment-Palestine continues its various training in which it aspires to reach the largest possible number of Palestinian youth and prepare them to enter the labor market. This training was not the first in the field of entrepreneurship, but rather it is part of a series of recent intensive training led by EFE in the entrepreneurship sector in Palestine. Since 2009, the organization has graduated nearly18,000 male and female graduates in many other fields, the most important of which are nursing, virtual jobs, accounting, digital marketing, marketing, management engineering, customer relationship management, and information technology.

Through its partners and supporters, EFE-Palestine aspires to complete its training to reach a larger number of young people and integrate them into the labor market in its various sectors.
