ISM HOSTS GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK
With over 200 Participants in almost a Dozen Countries
TROY, MICHIGAN, December 9, 2020 - International Strategic Management, Inc. (ISM) had the pleasure of hosting Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) - a collection of thousands of events, activities and competitions each November, that inspire millions to explore their potential as an entrepreneur while fostering connections and increasing collaboration within their ecosystems.
Powered by the Kauffman Foundation, GEW has expanded to 170+ nations since its launch in 2008 with 20,000 partner organizations now serving as GEN’s community-building backbone.
This year ISM’s GEW 2020 Event had over 200 participants from almost a dozen countries including Nigeria, Pakistan and Ireland. Many participants returned on multiple days to join the networking opportunities. "ISM has been involved with GEW all over the world from Belarus, Uzbekistan, Oman, Jordan and Palestine and everywhere in between and we are honored to be supporting our local community to benefit from this work," says ISM Founder and CEO, Faris Alami.
Diversity is a driver of innovation and economies suffer if a nation or group of people are underrepresented or face structural barriers – the world needs more entrepreneurs. The Global Entrepreneurship Network seeks universality, striving to be inclusive of individuals and communities who have traditionally faced barriers to entrepreneurship whether minority groups, cumbersome traditional institutions or those pushed to the side by strong competition.
The event started with welcoming remarks from a representative of Michigan Senator Gary Peters’ office. Mark Burton, President and CEO of Michigan Economic Development Corporation said, “Through exciting opportunities like Global Entrepreneur[ship] Week we are collaborating with the greatest minds from around the world to help continue our legacy of impactful discoveries for the next century and beyond.”
Participants gained knowledge on topics such as the entrepreneurial mindset, understanding customers, team leadership, business practices across cultures, cybersecurity and the 4P’s of marketing. Programs included the Resilient Entrepreneur, Kauffman FastTrac, and GrowthWheel. There were opportunities for contestants in a trivia game, and networking with fellow entrepreneurs. During the Global Trade Mission portion, participants formulated business plans to present during pitch competitions.
